Thanks to
visionary leadership, dedicated parents and motivated students, Hopewell
Missionary Baptist Church is thrilled to announce its Historically Black
Colleges and Universities (HBCU)
Tour, scheduled for July 12 – 18, 2009.
The purpose of the HBCU tour is to
provide an opportunity for participants to:
- expand their self concept and
vision of their future
- explore post secondary education
options
- raise awareness about all that
Historically Black Colleges and Universities have to offer
- learn history and heritage
Students and chaperones will visit
seven HBCUs in four states:
Fisk University in Nashville, TN
Clark Atlanta,
Morehouse and
Spellman in Atlanta, GA.
Bethune-Cookman in Daytona and
Florida A&M in Tallahassee
Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL
Before heading home, the HBCU tour
will visit the
Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN.
This is an amazing, life-changing
opportunity for every individual involved- youth, chaperones, and the
congregation.
Students must attend three of the
six following training sessions:
- Getting Ready”: Grades, Finance &
Networking
- Personal Development
- Character & Integrity”
- Public Speaking & Career Interest
- Code of Conduct & Interviewing
Skills
- ACT, PSAT Preparation
Students must also raise $500 to
cover their portion of the trip.
