Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour

Thanks to visionary leadership, dedicated parents and motivated students, Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church is thrilled to announce its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Tour, scheduled for July 12 – 18, 2009.

The purpose of the HBCU tour is to provide an opportunity for participants to:

  • expand their self concept and vision of their future
  • explore post secondary education options
  • raise awareness about all that Historically Black Colleges and Universities have to offer
  • learn history and heritage

Students and chaperones will visit seven HBCUs in four states:

Fisk University in Nashville, TN

Clark Atlanta, Morehouse and Spellman in Atlanta, GA.

Bethune-Cookman in Daytona and Florida A&M in Tallahassee 

Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL

Before heading home, the HBCU tour will visit the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN.

This is an amazing, life-changing opportunity for every individual involved- youth, chaperones, and the congregation.

Students must attend three of the six following training sessions:

  1. Getting Ready”: Grades, Finance & Networking
  2. Personal Development
  3. Character & Integrity”
  4. Public Speaking & Career Interest
  5. Code of Conduct & Interviewing Skills
  6. ACT, PSAT Preparation

Students must also raise $500 to cover their portion of the trip.
